What is Slips?

Slips is a small notes app with exactly five notes. Each one is yours to name, color, and give an icon. The idea is that five is enough for the things you keep coming back to, and few enough that you always know where everything is.

How do I customize a slip?

Open Settings, then Customize Slips. Tap a slip to change its name, color, and icon, or drag to reorder them. On iPhone the slips are the bottom tabs; on iPad and Mac they are the sidebar.

Is my data private?

Yes. Slips collects nothing. Your slips are stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud. See the Privacy Policy .

How does syncing work?

Slips uses your private iCloud. Sign in to the same Apple Account on each device and your slips appear everywhere. If something looks out of date, check that iCloud Drive is on and that you have a connection; Slips shows the last sync time in Settings.

What about backups?

Each device quietly saves a daily backup of your slips, keeping the last three. Find them in Settings, then Data Management, then Backups. Tap one to see what’s inside and restore it; a safety copy of your current slips is saved first, so even a restore can be undone. You can also export your slips to a file from there and keep it anywhere, and import that file later.

What does it cost?

The first slip is always free. Unlocking all five is a subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time lifetime purchase. A single purchase covers iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and is shareable with your family through Apple’s Family Sharing. If a subscription lapses, your slips are never deleted — they stay readable and exportable.

How do I get text in and out?

Share into Slips from other apps to any slip. Export any slip as plain text, rich text, Markdown, or HTML. Use the Shortcuts actions to append, prepend, replace, read, or clear a slip, and add widgets or the Control Center button for quick access.

Which devices are supported?

iPhone, iPad, and Mac, running iOS 26, iPadOS 26, or macOS Tahoe or later.
