What I'm Doing Now
I’ve always liked the idea of having a Now page on my site, and have even toyed with it a few times. I decided to make my own version using a dedicated category that will preserve posts from before now as well. When I do update my Now, I won’t lose the old ones. Perhaps it’s not exactly how it was intended, but it’s what I’m going to use.
Since that’s all out of the way, let’s get to it:
Travel: Beach Trip
My family and I recently took a short drive (about 4.5 hrs) to Florida for a few days at the beach. The beach was absolutely the primary objective, but we also took in the excellent Naval Aviation Museum, caught a Blue Angels practice, and found some excellent local restaurants.

It’s a trip we’ve done almost every year, but we skipped the previous year due to some health issues with my parents. Fortunately, they’ve recovered fully (beat cancer and triple bypass) and were able to travel with us.
Project: A New Theme
I recently released a new theme for the Micro.blog platform called Mythos. Since the release, I’ve already squashed bugs, added features, smoothed out some rough edges, and more. One of the most popular questions I’ve gotten about the theme is if it will eventually support Microhooks (which I created for Tiny Theme). The answer to that is yes, sorta.
I’m moving a lot of the functionality of some of the basic Microhooks to the Plugin Settings of Mythos. You can already add meta tags and scripts and show/hide certain elements in Mythos that required Microhooks for Tiny Theme. But some of the more advanced customizations people achieved (like sidebars, full-on CSS re-writes, etc) require Microhooks. Rest assured, they’ll make their way into Mythos as well.
Life: Baseball Coach
This year, I’ve volunteered to coach my son’s baseball team as he moves from coach-pitch to player-pitch. It falls on me to teach them the intricacies of balks, leads, steals, and passed balls now. I’d by lying to you if I said I wasn’t a little anxious about the whole thing. But mostly just about dealing with the adults involved.
