A few have asked, so answering publicly: Yes, I plan to add Bluesky replies support to Tiny Theme.

Due to travel & other family obligations, we did our immediate family Christmas today. It’s so much fun seeing the kids’ faces light up. And always funny what they really appreciate (a Braves hoodie, a kid’s cookbook, etc). But one big hit today was predictable: a cabinet style PacMan arcade game.

Ohhh. CSS :has() is now supported everywhere. This opens up so many possibilities for theme developers on Micro.blog. (cc @manton)

On our recent family trip, my dad brought the new Uno: Show ‘em No Mercy game (he got lucky to find one). It’s a lot of fun, and a highly recommend it. But be forewarned, it’s crazy!

I’m working on a dev version of Tiny Theme. Here’s what I know:

  • Unstyled
  • Support for native micro.blog features
  • No built-in plugin support (add this manually)
  • No scripts
  • No media queries
  • No settings

Created for those who want to create a custom theme without having to do all of the heavy lifting.

My wife and I just went under contract on a potential investment/rental property. It’s a new venture for us, so hopefully we can work out the details and make the correct decisions!

Reactivated my Mastodon account. Follow me there if that’s your thing.

Another day of extended-family vacation.

Anyone looking to sell (or donate to 501c3 charity) an iPad Pro 12.9” (5th or 6th gen)?

Vaca fun.

Investing in a Synology has been one of the best tech decisions I’ve made in a long time. I currently have it running Plex (with a host of supporting apps), a Pastebin, a home surveillance system, Homebridge, and a couple smaller things. Highly recommend.

Default Apps for 2023

There have been a bunch of “what apps am I using?” blog posts recently, inspired by an episode of Hemispheric Views. Robb Knight has a page with links to other people’s posts.

If you’re in the market for some extra disk space, this is a great deal on an 18TB drive. Use it as is or shuck it.

I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of setting up my own little homelab/server. So far, I’ve been able to successfully roll out my own privatebin, video downloader, file uploader, homebridge, and media server. I’m happy with how far I’ve gotten and with how much I’ve learned so far. Docker ftw.

I’m going down the Synology rabbit hole. Ordered a DS423+ with 2 Toshiba N300 10TB drives to start with. I’ve also got some additional RAM and NVMe en route. My primary use will be ChannelsDVR (Plex-like), but I’m sure I’ll find more and more uses for it. Anyone else using one?

Field trip day for the kids. Art and Science Museum.

Heading back to Broken Bow with some extended family in about 5 weeks.

Kalena and Rowyn hiking in Broken BowKalena on the river during a broken bow hike.

As an EDC type, I’m generally not a fan of multi-tools. But the Leatherman Arc looks perfect.

Anyone using any combination of Plex, Channels, PlayOn, or other variations? Any strategies you use, specifically for streaming shows?
